When You Speak it, You Become It | The Prophetic College
The discussion was started with these brilliant words “You sit in silence, you get nowhere”
Upon sharing those powerful words, Archbishop E. Bernard Jordan then asked how many of the listeners have chosen to be silent in life and one of the listeners is Ms. Marissa Morgan, 28 years old, an aspiring elementary school teacher who considers herself reserved and an introvert explains how her childhood trauma has affected her to feel like her voice did not matter. According to Marissa, when she was about 6 to 7 years old, her former teacher would shut her down whenever she says something that is not right. It made her feel unworthy of her own words. This unfortunate experience has made her keep her words to herself and live in silence 23 years after.
Coach Jean Lloyd says, “There is no such thing as an introvert. It is a box that is another form of slavery. You are your word. If you tell yourself you are an introvert then that’s going to leave you with no voice”
The result of labeling ourselves will only make us end up swimming in the sea of decisions made by ourselves or others. We should begin to only pick the labels that are worthy of us because we are our future.
Later in the discussion, Archbishop E. Bernard Jordan adds, encouraging words for Marissa, “ Your voice is needed, revolution happens with the young, not the elders”
Coach Jean Lloyd advises Marissa to never worry about what to say because this is how communication begins with others. Sometimes you cannot trust talking, but you can definitely trust communication.
Marissa was moved with the uplifting support from the commons, she praises God for having a voice and told everyone her visions as an aspiring teacher. She would like to focus to empower the young to be a better person for their future.
Coach Jean Lloyd ended the discussion with a powerful word of wisdom to live by, “The moment you speak it you become it. Replace introvert of a mighty leader.”
